Time for a quick history lesson
Many of our laundries have been in business since the early 20th century. Back then, the majority of their work was providing domestic laundry services to households – a labour intensive job, with horse and cart often the preferred delivery vehicle.
The arrival of the domestic washing machine proved to be a major challenge, virtually wiping out their traditional marketplace. In order to survive, laundries had to diversify and so concentrated their efforts towards hotels and factories, offering them the opportunity to rent bedlinen, towelling and uniforms direct from the laundry.
The rest, as they say, is history. It’s fair to say that today, the same innovative and forward thinking spirit is alive and well across all our laundries. Investments in people, technology, equipment and systems are helping to ensure our future stays Brilliant well into the 21st century.
